WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital (WSRH) recently received a three-year accreditation from Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The hospital is one of only four in Pennsylvania to achieve DNV accreditation.
DNV Healthcare is the leading accreditor of United States hospitals integrating ISO 9001 quality compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. ISO 9001 is a series of standards that define, establish and maintain an effective quality assurance system.
“I’m very pleased with the three-year accreditation,” said Barb Yarrish, vice president of operations for WSRH. “It’s a credit to our staff members and their commitment to processes that enhance workflow, continuous improvement and providing the best patient experience possible.”
The DNV survey team arrived unannounced. They were on site for three days, which included the day after an eight-inch snowstorm and the day of a wintry mix that resulted in a half-inch of ice.
“The DNV surveyors were very complimentary of the team’s preparedness for the weather and our ability to not only provide excellent patient care but to do so while hosting the survey team,” added Yarrish.
In addition to the excellent patient care, the DNV surveyors were impressed by the staff’s openness, cleanliness of the facility and the quality management program. DNV surveyors will return every year.
